Sketch 53 2d

Throughout this unit, I was firstly intrigued by how television adverts were designed back in 20th Century. I was excited to hear that I would be producing my first 2D flash animation. I have never used before. However before any production could begin, I had to do some research on previous fire and hazardous awareness adverts.

Create expressive drawings anywhere using natural drawing tools like pencils, pens, markers, and watercolor brushes with Adobe Photoshop Sketch. 2D Drawing & Sketch. 3D Models Static Analysis. 3D Models Static Analysis. . 2D Schematic Drawings. Create and share online schematic P&ID, HVAC, Process Flow diagrams and drawings - using templates with Google Docs. 3D SketchUp and the Engineering ToolBox Extension. The amazing 3D drawing tool - with engineering components. Area Survey App.

In the brief were are told the animation would be about fire safety that would be targeted for children audiences. So during class, we looked at various television adverts, from the 70s and 80s, which were targeted towards children. One particular advert that caught my attention was a series of adverts which featured a young boy named Charlie and his cat. Charlie would attempt to put himself in dangerous situations and his pet cat would save him.

Choose from a wide variety of shapes to create diagrams and charts. Free from Google. 60 AutoCAD 2D & 3D Practice 3D drawings 53 3D-18. 60 AutoCAD 2D & 3D Practice 3D drawings 54 3D-19. 60 AutoCAD 2D & 3D Practice 3D drawings 55 3D-20.

The key features about these adverts, were the drawings and sound effects used within the advert. The drawings were very simplistic, very graphic. Whereas the speech from Charlie was child like. Most probably to try and communicate with the children on their level. However the voice of the cat was awkward. While the cat was slightly anthropomorphic, by they way it would prevent harm to Charlie, the cat would speak gibberish. Still maintaining its animalisitic status.

In my opinion, the various adaptations used between Charlie and the cat, brilliantly conveyed a warm and friendly approach towards children. Allowing them to understand what is taking place and what they can learn from the advert. However in my 2D animation, I decided to take a more serious approach towards my advert. I want children viewing my advert to understand that fire is not a substance to play with. It can spread and kill.

Before I began storyboarding, I created a mood board to help emphasis on the theme of my animation. Motion 5 4. The tone would be very serious yet still having a cartoonish element towards it. I selected images from the images such as a child crying with fear, a demon looking fire creature and beautiful scenery of fire reacting wild and spreading across the surrounding areas.

So with my advert, I made the fire react to the child who was antagonising 'him'. (Sparking the match). During the animation, the 'spirit' of the fire, will warn the child to not strike the match twice. The child ignores the warning and becomes terrified by what he has unleashed. I designed the unleashed fire to become a monstrous demon. The characteristics of the demon would reflect on the characteristics of fire itself. Uncontrollable, unpredictable and very dangerous. Fear will be my key element in my animation. While the fire spreads about the childs surroundings, the creature continues his rhyming monologue and is eventually fizzled out by rain.

This shows that child could get lucky sometimes but it comes with a price. Fear, heat and no help. A second chance could not be so lucky.

During the 2d animation project, I intentionally thought the adobe flash software would be very complicated, having no knowledge about it. However I discovered numerous aspects about the adobe flash itself, which allowed me to create a quite simple yet straight to the point 30 second animation.
I personally did find the production side of the project very tedious because of the method I was using to actually create my animation. I had to draw every frame of movement for the character of the young boy to 'bring him to life'.

However the most challenging part of animating was creating the characteristics of the fire. In terms of its movement and reaction to the environment. Again having to draw the flames, frame by frame, it was incredibly time consuming and somewhat hectic at times because during testing, the fluidity of the flames did not react similarly compared to other flames that were created.

On the other hand, the method of duplicating scenes was a major advantage for me because it background used within selected scenes, I specifically chose them because of their camera angles, perspective and what is featured within the shot, which gave the whole scene a certain theme.

Once animation was complete and it was time to add audio, I recorded my own voice using the microphone on my laptop and simply added them to the characters voices. For the sound effects I searched for sound effects for natural environment noises such as fire and rain.

I asked friends and family about how what their opinion of the animation and what message was put across and who they thought the target audience were. All thought the target audience were young children. Caffeinated 1 1 77. They thought the message across point blank, however some thought, as a TV advert, it could possibility terrify those with very fragile minds. But overall the use of fear to ensure that playing with matches is not a joke, is presented clearly.

In conclusion, I did enjoy this project because as said previously, I have never used for created a flash animation before and to finally experience and learn the key methods and tools of adobe flash is something I can put under my belt. Regardless of the tedious drawing, I now understand that a lot of hard work and concentration is implemented in production high quality animations. Hence the reason why companies such as Warner Bros. Animation or Toei Animation have employees work in specific teams because of their talents.
